A very warm welcome to our website!

You'll find information here about our ancient and beautiful church, our services and organisations, our music, and the ways in which we serve this community of Norton, Batemoor and Jordanthorpe, along with our ecumenical partners at Meadowhead Christian Fellowship.

We are broad and inclusive with a strong musical tradition and offer a warm welcome to all who wish to share the journey of faith with us. Our main Sunday service is at 10.30 am and we would be delighted to welcome you. Details of other services can be found on the Services page.

Coronavirus notice

During this difficult time due to the coronavirus outbreak, public worship in the Church of England has been suspended until further notice. This means our regular weekly services are not taking place, neither are the various groups throughout the week.

You can also keep in touch with what is happening as we continue to be a church that is separate, but together, by following us on Facebook or visiting our website.

A Goodbye to Geoffrey

As you may know, Fr. Geoffrey White, Rector of Norton for the past 13 years, retired in early September. His last services will be Eucharist and Choral Evensong on Sunday 8th.

Geoffrey was made a deacon 40 years ago at Wakefield Cathedral. After many years of service he came to Norton returning to his Sheffield roots. Geoffrey loves choral music so as well as enthusiastically singing in the Church choir, he joined the Sheffield Bach Choir and then the Sheffield Oratorio Chorus where his strong and melodious voice was very welcome. He has a big interest in genealogy and he was delighted to find that an ancestor of his was a previous vicar of Norton St James.

We all wish Geoffrey and Alison many happy years of retirement with time to spend with each other, his interest in history and their lovely grandchildren.
